Mrs. Martinelli's
Second Grade Scoop
UPDATES:
Wed., Aug. 28th - First Day of School!
READING: Students should bring in their summer reading/Governor's Summer Reading Challenge logs.
Reading logs will go home on Mondays and are DUE on Friday mornings.
WRITING: Students will be writing in their own writer's notebooks every day.
MATH: Adding! Subtracting! We will be practicing at school, and students should be practicing at home, too.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Being a good citizen includes being a good friend within our classroom. Kindness, empathy, and respect will be the focus areas in our classroom, along with working well with others, and being responsible for our actions. These important qualities will be worked on daily, and in our Second Steps classes with Mrs. Lutz on Wednesdays.
SCIENCE: Our class will begin our science units with a unit on beavers.
HOMEWORK: Reading logs are due on each Friday of the week.
Part of the reading log assignment is the responsibility of turning it in on time.
Spelling lists will be coming home on Mondays, with our quiz on Fridays. During the week, students should alphabetize those words, and practice them daily.
Occasionally, a math or science assignment will come home during the week as well.
This homework will be due the next day.
